China repatriates Interpol-listed fugitive from Philippines
The individual, identified by the surname Hao and suspected of committing a duty-related crime involving approximately 970 million yuan ($137 million), was returned to China following coordinated efforts between the two countries, according to the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines. The embassy described the operation as a significant milestone in bilateral law enforcement cooperation.
By 2024, China had repatriated a total of 14,048 fugitives from over 120 countries and regions, including 2,999 members of the Communist Party of China and government employees. Among the 100 most-wanted individuals on Interpol’s red notice list, 62 have been captured, and authorities have recovered illicit funds totaling around 66.62 billion yuan (approximately $9.4 billion), according to state media reports.
